Please be reminded that with effect from 1 January 2010, LME Warrants may only be issued for listed primary aluminium brands where chemical composition meets the P1020A specification, outlined as follows:-

LME - AEO REQUIREMENT FOR LME WAREHOUSES LISTED IN EUROPEAN UNION

On 9 December 2009, the LME announced the requirement that the operating company(s) of the LME listed warehouses in the European Union, must obtain in respect of each EU location in which it operates, Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status in accordance with EU Council Regulation 648/2005 implemented by Commission Regulation 1875/2006.

Warehouse companies need to have obtained this certification by no later than 1 January 2011.

SMX - RECEIVES 'IN-PRINCIPLE' REGULATORY CLEARANCE 

On 2 December 2009, The Singapore Mercantile Exchange announced that it has received in-principle regulatory clearance to operate the first Pan-Asian multi-product commodity derivatives exchange.  The Exchange expects to commence trading in first quarter 2010 and participants will be able to trade products ranging from precious metals, base metals, energy, agriculture, currency pairs and commodity indexes using an electronic platform developed by Financial Technologies India Ltd.

SGX/SICOM - TO LAUNCH COMMODITY PRODUCTS CONTRACTS

On 3 December 2009, The Singapore Exchange (SGX) announced that it will be launching a Fuel Oil 380 CST Futures Contract. SGX's Singapore Commodity Exchange subsidiary (SICOM) will be expanding their product base to include gold and coffee and start clearing over-the-counter rubber contracts.  These new contracts will commence in the first quarter of 2010.
