EU REACH - EUROPEAN CHEMICALS AGENCY (ECHA) PUBLISHES GUIDANCE BROCHURE FOR EXPORTERS TO THE EU
Between 1 June and 1 December 2008, EU manufacturers and EU importers of metal need to provide limited information to ECHA for each existing substance (metals are classed as a chemical substance) in order to comply with their REACH obligations.
ECHA has recently published a guidance brochure providing information for exporters to the EU. The brochure details how REACH affects companies outside the European Union.
LME PUBLISHES BRAND REGISTRATION PROCEDURES FOR ITS STEEL BILLET CONTRACT
In order to register steel production, in the first instance, you must be either i) a steel producer, ii) a steel merchant or iii) a LME Member Company (Categories 1-5) and hold a certified confirmation of quality from a User of the Billet covering the production to be registered. Supporting producer documentation required is outlined in the LME's "Registration of Steel Billet Production, Guidance Notes for Applicants".
DGCX PUBLISHES ITS LIST OF APPROVED PRODUCERS FOR ITS REBAR STEEL CONTRACT
The Exchange lists the following approved producers:-

NYMEX - BOARD APPROVES LAUNCH OF US STEEL FUTURES CONTRACT
The NYMEX Board has approved the launch of a US Hot Rolled Coil Contract. Launch date to be announced. The financially settled contract is to be listed on NYMEX's ClearPort electronic clearing and trading platform. Further information to be announced.
SHFE RECEIVES APPROVAL FROM CSRC TO LAUNCH GOLD FUTURES CONTRACT
SHFE, in addition to its recently launched Zinc Contract, has received approval from the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) to launch a Gold Futures Contract. Final Contract Specification details will be announced at a later date.
