THE FRASER INSTITUTE - ANNUAL SURVEY OF MINING COMPANIES - TOP 10 JURISDICTIONS
The Fraser Institute, an independent research and educational organisation based in Canada, has recently released its 2007/2008 Annual Survey of Mining Companies. This represents the opinions of 372 mining executives and managers worldwide, on the policy and mineral endowment of 68 jurisdictions on all continents except Antarctica.
The Top 10 jurisdictions are:-

- Finland
- Alberta
- Manitoba
- Chile
- Utah
- Wyoming
- Ireland

NYSE EURONEXT - PURCHASE DEAL ANNOUNCED
NYSE Euronext announced on Friday, 15 March 2008, that it will purchase the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) Precious Metals Contracts, gold and silver futures and options, from The CME Group subject to receiving regulatory approval.

LME - MOBILE, USA, APPROVED AS A 'GOOD DELIVERY' LOCATION
With effect from 24 April 2008, Mobile, USA, is approved as a 'Good Delivery' Location for Base Metals Contracts:- primary aluminium, copper, lead, NASAAC, nickel, tin and zinc.
LME approved warehouse company - Metro International Trade Services LLC, located in Mobile, is approved for base metal storage effective 24 April 2008.

LME - 'GOOD DELIVERY' LOCATIONS APPROVED UNDER THE NASAAC CONTRACT
With effect from 24 April 2008, Long Beach, Los Angeles and New Orleans are approved as 'Good Delivery' locations for the North American Aluminium Alloy Contract (NASAAC).
LME approved warehouse company - Metro International Trade Services LLC, warehousing facilities, located at Long Beach and New Orleans are additionally approved for NASAAC storage with effect from 24 April 2008.

EU REACH REGULATION - EUROPEAN COPPER CONSORTIUM - UPDATE
The European Copper Institute's (ECI) Copper Reach Consortium which is facilitating the Copper Industry's efforts to meet REACH legislative requirements, held its First General Assembly on 26 February 2008 in Brussels. 23 companies were signed up as founding members. The key outputs of the consortium will be registration dossiers for the agreed inventory of substances.
The ECI's consortium covers two sub groups.
1. Copper metal.
2. By-products and intermediates produced during the smelting and refining process:-
Removal cathodes, Spent anodes, Cu blister, Cu anode, Cu matte. Cu-Pb matte, White cu matte, Cu cement, Black Cu, Slimes and Sludges from Cu production, Speiss Cu, Cu slags, Cu slags - product sold for construction, Cu slags - fabricators, Flue dusts, Spent electrolyte demetalised, Electrolyte, Black acid, White acid and Weak acid.
The ECI is co-operating with a third party leading a separate consortium covering copper compounds.
